A few weeks ago I had some routine bloodwork done at Dr. N's office. It was the 2nd Trimester Quad Screening and it basically tests for higher percentages of your baby having down syndrome, Trisomy, and Spina Bifida. Dr. N called me with the results last week and he said that the Spina Bifida results came back higher than normal. The results were 1/200 chance of the baby having SB. So that is still as low as 1/2% chance. He looked at my ultrasound pictures from the 23rd and said he didn't see anything that would be cause for concern but I have an appt this Thursday the 2nd in the city for a very detailed ultrasound to make sure everything is ok with the baby's spine.
Dr. N said it was normal to receive elevated results on the bloodwork and then everything checks out fine.
